Week of March 15th, 2010
2010 Census --Students, all households in the Sacramento Area received a census form this week. Please work with your families and have them fill out the form. There are several reasons for this: Money: For every person that is counted in the census, $1,600 is returned to the community. This is money used for things like roads and schools. Power: Congressional seats are determined by the census. Places that fill out the forms well can get more congressional seats in Congress. Do we want people from here making laws, or people from other parts of the state or country making laws for us? Privacy: If you do not mail in the form, census workers come out to houses, and knock on doors. Mail it in and maintain privacy. Also important, this is about residency, not citizenship. Let’s help our community and fill out the census.
