The Pacer Spotlight is shining on all of the staff members who have signed up to participate in this year's Staff V. Student Basketball Game! We know you're going to bring bragging rights back to the Grant Staff!

Attention Juniors and Seniors -- We are now accepting nominations for Junior and Senior Prom Royalty. Pick up a form in room B-12 beginning on Wednesday. You must have at least a 2.0 GPA to be nominated.
Staff V. Student Basketball Game -- Hey Pacers! Come out and watch your teachers and staff take on the boys' and girls' basketball team on Tuesday, March 16th at 6:30 PM! Admission is $2 at the door, and all proceeds go directly to the basketball program! Don't miss this epic battle for bragging rights! The staff are going to bring it -- let's see what the Pacers ballers got for us!
E-Waste! -- Attention All Pacers! Got broken down computers, phones, appliances or TVs around the house? Bring them to school on Saturday for the Swim Team's E-Waste Collection Day! Do your spring cleaning and the proceeds will go directly to the Swim Team!
Tax Preparation -- Grant Union High School will be hosting a Free Tax Preparation Event on Thursday, March 18, 2010 during 5th and 6th Periods. Have your taxes prepared by trained IRS certified volunteers. Your return will be prepared an electronically filed for FREE! E-File! It's easy, safe and convenient. Please see Mr. Rossetto in room G-5 to Sign UP.
Spring Open House -- This year's Spring Open House will be held on Thursday night, March 25th from 6 to 8 PM in the newly repainted Main Gym! Bring your parents for an evening of cultural performance and a celebration of all things Pacer! Clubs and teams, if you are interested in preparing a cultural performance please contact Mrs. Shepherd ASAP to be included on the program for that night! Also, booths will be available for selling Grant Pacer items. See Ms. Davie to reserve your spot today!
ARE YOU LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO ON SATURDAY MARCH 13TH? IF YOU ARE, HERE'S SOMETHING YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN.... ON SATURDAY MARCH 13, FROM 9 TO 2:30PM, THEIR WILL BE A WORKSHOP CALLED "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME". IT WILL TAKE PLACE AT SAMUEL JACKMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL. THE WORKSHOP IS OPEN TO ALL TEENAGERS AGES 13 TO 18. THERE WILL BE PROFESSIONAL SPEAKERS THERE TALKING ABOUT HEALTHY CHOICES AND HEALTHY LIVING. THEY WILL EDUCATE YOU ON GANG AWARENESS, DRUG PREVENTION, CHILD ABUSE, PEER PRESSURE AND SELF ESTEEM ISSUES. THE EVENT WILL BE FREE. ALSO INCLUDED IS TRANSPORTATION, FREE LUNCH, AND HIP HOP TALENT SHOW. STUDENTS WHO PRE-REGISTER AND ATTEND THE EVENT WILL HAVE THEIR NAMES ENTERED IN A DRAWING FOR A CHANCE TO WIN AN IPOD TOUCH. Video Conference with Japan -- Come watch and participate in History in the Making. This Thursday at 3:15, there will be a 6-way international videio conference! Come to the Grant Library and enjoy this exciting opportunity to interact with teens on the othe side of the globe!
Junior-Senior Ball -- Attenion all Juniors and Seniors! the Junior-Senior Ball is coming up in a couple of months and tickets are now on sale in the Cable Studio. There will be no couple tickets, and single tickets will be $35 from now until March 12th. Ms. Shavaun will be off campus on Thursday and Friday this week, so purchase your tickets during lunch in room B-12 on Thursday and Friday. Prices will go up to $45 from March 12th to April 5th, and then jump to $55 until the date of the ball. Buy your ticket early, before the price goes up! Guest Passes are required for any date that is not a Grant Student. Guest Passes are available now -- see Ms. Davie in the Attendance Office.
United Way -- Staff, if you are interested in participating in this year's United Way campaign, please see Denny Augustine in room W-108 ASAP.
College, Making it Happen -- Students, Sacramento State University will be having their annual "College Making it Happen" event on Saturday March 20th. Please log on to www.csus.edu/cmih to register online. Free workshops and free food will be provided for the entire family.
Class Meetings Reminders
Freshman -- Wednesdays -- West Cafeteria -- The next 2 freshmen class meetings will be on February 4th and 11th after school in the West Campus Cafeteria at 2:45PM. ALL 9th graders are highly encouraged to attend. All 7 elected student leaders need to be there as we can not make any firm commitments to fund raising without your input and assistance.
